Our classes meet once a week for 30 minutes.
The student teacher
ratio for Otter Baby classes is 6 parents and babies a to 1 teacher.
The Shiny Starfish ratio is 4 children to 1 teacher.
Baby Classes Otter
Baby I
Otter Baby I (6 months to 18 months)
These classes build swimming readiness by emphasizing fun in the water with songs, games and colorful equipment. Parents and children participate in guided sessions that help children learn elementary skills, including water orientation and entry, floating skills, breath control, gentle underwater submersion, opening eyes under water, picking up objects on bottom, front kicking, and more. Each child is accompanied by an adult in the pool.
Maximum student/teacher ratio is 6:1 (infant/toddler with parent).
Otter Baby II
(19 months to 36 months)
Otter Baby II is for beginning toddlers between 19 to 36 months and their parent. The main difference between this class and Otter Baby I is age, which means expectations are higher and drills are modified to be age appropriate. Continuing to use songs and games, we teach the parent how to correctly hold their toddler to promote relaxed and comfortable movements through the water. Overcoming fear of the water, gaining breath control and relaxed gliding are the main goals. Additional skills include floating and climbing out to the pool.

Otter
Otter Baby III (by invitation)
Otter Baby III is for fearless toddlers and their parent. Together with their parent, the child expands their breath control and is introduced to independent swimming and floating. Additional skills include kicking, bubbles, diving to the bottom of the pool and independent sit diving. Toddlers must complete at least one Otter Baby I or II session and have their instructor’s authorization before enrolling into this class.
Little Otter
A
class for two-year olds who are already moving about three
feet through the water. Parents who are on the deck during
this class will watch babies increase their distance to ten
feet and begin to get a breath in the water.Basic fundamental swimming skills include kicking and reaching skills, picking up submerged objects, swimming on front, floating on back, water safety and more.
3 - year olds Shiny
Starfish
A program designed specifically for three-year olds who cannot
swim. This
class captures the child's imagination through the use of daily themes. The
goal of the class is happy children swimming five feet.This class is taught
at a 4 to 1 ratio and parents are not in the water with their children.
Silver Starfish and
Super Starfish
A class for three-year olds who already swim
five feet. Daily themes and games continue to entertain
these children while they learn to swim ten feet and start
to get a breath while swimming.This class is taught at a 4 student to 1 teacher ratio.
Beginners Rosie
Red Fish
A class for four and five year olds who cannot
swim. Daily themes create fun-filled lessons to teach
the children how to swim five feet.. Skills your child will practice include: face float with ears under water, face glide to a count of 10, windmill arms and kicking, independent kick glide for 5 feet
Yippy Yellow
Tang
A class for six year olds and up who do not swim.
This class is designed to teach everyone to swim,
no matter how hesitant. Our teaching techniques are
tried and true for effectiveness. Students learn
a relaxed, effective stroke about ten feet on their
natural buoyancy level.
Purple Parrotfish
This class is designed for four and five year olds
who are already swimming and need the safety skill
of being able to grab one breath while swimming.
Our goal is to increase swimming ability, endurance,
and strength so they are safer in the water and
have the coordination to get an independent breath.
Although these student’s skill level are more advanced than their peers, we continue to include daily themes to enhance the enjoyment of their swim lessons. Our goal is to have your purple parrotfish drag you to swim lessons.
Golly
Green Guppy
A class for six year olds and older who already
swim 5 feet. The goal of
this course is is to increase their swimming distance
and endurance to they are safer in the water. Students
are also working on improving their freestyle stroke
technique with a final goal of swimming at least
20 feet and getting a breath..
Golly
Green Guppy II
Designed for six-year olds and up
who can already swim 20 feet but need to learn
how to get an independent breath.Our goal is to increase their swimming ability and strength so they have the coordination to get an independent breath. Children will practice: windmill arms, front breath, flutter kick, back float
Advanced
Dashing
Dolphins
A class for students who are already able to
swim 20 feet and get one independent breath.
The goal of this course is to teach children
to swim 40 feet with several independent breaths.
Dashing Dolphins work on achieving destination
swimming…which is the mindset whereby they learn
not to stop swimming until they reach a safe
destination. They continue swimming and get as
many breaths as necessary to safely reach their
destination. The teachers also work on improving
their freestyle technique.
Blazing Barracudas
A
course for six-year olds and up who are currently
swimming 40 feet and getting several independent
breaths. At the end of this class the students
should be swimming both freestyle with rolling
breaths and elementary backstroke 75 feet.
Mighty
Makos
A class designed for seven-year olds
and up who are already performing the freestyle
stroke with rolling breaths and elementary
backstroke. Rhythmic breathing and breaststroke 75 feet are the
goals for this course. Speedy Sting Rays
A
course for eight-year olds and up who are currently performing
rhythmic breathing and breaststroke. The goal of this class is
swimming the competitive backstroke and butterfly stroke 75 feet. Super
Otter
This is a pre-team class for eight-year olds and up who
are already able to swim competitive backstroke and butterfly
stroke. The goal of this class is swimming all 4 competitive
strokes 150 feet (2 laps) and introduction of snorkeling and
water safety skills.We utilize drills similar to swim team workouts to increase stroke techniques and endurance.
